St. Vincent White Coat Gala

On May 5, St. Vincent Foundation held its first annual St. Vincent White Coat Gala at the Intercontinental Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. The evening celebrated our healthcare heroes who contribute to innovative medical research towards cures for chronic illnesses. The event was presented by the Honorary Chairpersons, Annette and Leonard Shapiro, while the MC for the evening was ABC7 Morning News anchor, Phillip Palmer.
The special honorees for the evening were Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong, Dr. Taro Yokoyama, and Dr. Robert Naraghi. Dr. Soon-Shiong was recognized for the 25th anniversary of his groundbreaking, world’s first human encapsulated islet cell transplant at St. Vincent Medical Center. Dr. Taro Yokoyama was presented with the Senior Sage Award for his devotion and expertise in thoracic and cardiac surgery for more than 50 years. Dr. Naraghi was presented the Next Generation Healer Award for his dedication and success as the Medical Director of the Multi-Organ Transplant Center.
The White Coat Gala celebrated and honored St. Vincent’s rich, historic past, cherished present accomplishments, and embraced the many new developments to come as a bigger, better, brighter St. Vincent is on the horizon.
The evening was also a celebration of the exciting campus expansion at St. Vincent which will include a new tower with state-of-the-art facilities and groundbreaking technologies. Along with tremendous growth in the areas of transplant, oncology, orthopedics and cardiology, St. Vincent is expanding service lines and bringing in top physicians from around the country.
